Everybody loves fall in Wisconsin!

Lots has happened at the Stark house since we last wrote. CeCe now has FOUR teeth; she's become a swinging maniac; she took her first visit to a pumpkin farm and Boo at the Zoo, where she wore a Halloween costume for the first time; mommy started a new business; daddy is still getting used to his new job; and, oh yeah, CeCe fell down the stairs and took her first visit to the emergency room.

Obviously you'll first want to know about the fall. She's doing just fine, THANKFULLY! It was this incident that made us realize just how fast she's become. One minute she was playing within my line of site. The next she had made her way to the stairs. As soon as I heard the "boom" I went running and found her halfway down the stairs, sliding down on her belly. I couldn't get to her fast enough and saw her fall the rest of the way. We took her to Children's Hospital where the doctor told us she tore her frenulum (the piece of skin that connects your lip to your upper gums) and hit her teeth. But within a day you wouldn't have known anything had ever happened. Now, as for me, I still feel sick about the whole thing. Let me tell you - plenty of babyproofing happened that same afternoon.

CeCe just loves fall. We play in the leaves a lot, which always makes her giggle. However, she tries to eat them, which isn't great. When Matt came home from work on Friday we went to a pumpkin farm to pick-out a daddy-sized pumpkin, mommy-sized pumpkin, and CeCe-sized pumpkin. (Photos of that next time. We need to carve them first.) There was a small petting zoo at the farm that we thought she would love but she cried when the goat tried to lick her. Go figure! One of our neighbors has a tiny little puppie named Nessie and when she licks CeCe she laughs so hard.

On Saturday we took her to Boo at the Zoo. She was getting pretty tired when we arrived but once we visited the "Big Cats" area she perked right up. In addition to the cheetahs and tigers, she LOVES the gorillas and monkeys. What a coincidence - we bought her a monkey costume for Halloween.

We've now included walks to the park as a regular part of our routine. It's crazy how much CeCe loves the swing, which means we love it more. When she's in it she gives us this perfect smile that (we think) says something like, "oh thank you, mommy/daddy! You're the best mommy/daddy in the whole world and I'll love you forever." So, as you can understand, we let her swing and swing and swing . . .

In other news, at the beginning of September I left the agency I was with to start a pr consulting business. The goal was to have more time at home with CeCe. So far it's been a big success (thank goodness) but I've found myself working more than I was before. I'm starting to get it under control and have built fun activities with CeCe into the week so we get more "together" time. Last Thursday we started swimming lessons at Swimtastic. She loved it and even went under water three times. She was very tired once we were finished, though. By the time we got in the car she conked out.

Matt is doing well with his new job, although, he admits it's been quite the adjustment not having his own class. He's enjoying the challenge nonetheless.

Oh - almost forgot. CeCe started at a new daycare in early October. She's in someone's home, just five minutes from us. In addition to having two small kids, our daycare provider is flexible with scheduling. Therefore, I get to pick her up whenever I have free time during the day. It's really worked out perfectly.

Anyway, Halloween is just around the corner and we invite you all to stop by if you find yourself in Enderis Park. It's the best trick-or-treating experience we've seen. Truly. Plenty of fun for the kids AND adults. We'll have lots of candy so we hope to see some of you.

Thanks for reading!

Uncle Jeff's Wedding

Matt's brother, Jeff, got married yesterday. However, our camera battery died five minutes into the ceremony. Therefore, we only have a few minutes to share now.

Cecelia had fun at the rehearsal dinner and ceremony. There were two other kids there with birthdays within two days of her but she was more interested in the big kids who kept her entertained.

All We Can Say Is: "We're Sorry"

To all of you who care about our little Web site and have been reminding us that it hasn't been updated in a long while, we're sorry.  Life has been crazy, but good at the Stark house.  A quick recap:

Cecelia is crawling!  This is the big news.  She's become our funny little girl.  Her personality has come out in full effect and she's a good mix of mom and dad.  She's also got a stubborn streak, though.  Not sure where that came from.

What started as an army crawl has slowly progressed into the real deal so I can't really say when it all happened.  She's also become an independent little eater.  Baby food is, well, for babies, or so she seems to think.  She now gets vegetables, bits of chicken, bread and her favorite - cheerios.  For example, last night she enjoyed mushed bananas, cheerios, peppers, zucchini, cheerios, mushrooms, cheerios and chicken.  The bananas were in there just to make things interesting.

In family news, Matt started his new job as a district mentor with MPS.  He calls it his "dream job," which makes CeCe and me happy.  I also left the PR agency I was with to go off on my own as a public relations consultant.  What started out as an idea that was a mix of scary but exciting all the same has become a true business with real clients.  I'm enjoying the flexibility in my schedule.  Only downfall is that it's hard to turn off work.  Matt is having the same problem.  So at night after Cecelia has gone to bed, Matt and I sit next to one another with our laptops out - for hours.  Therefore, a weekly "date night" has become essential.

With all the job changes, Cate's house (CeCe's daycare) is now far out of our way.  We're each spending forty minutes in the car - me in the morning and Matt in the afternoon - driving there and back.  Therefore, we sadly decided that in October CeCe will be going to a new place close to our house.  It's a hard adjustment but one we know is best for our family.  She'll only be five minutes from home which means on my less busy days I can pick her up early for mom and CeCe fun.

During the past week we took advantage of all the end of season sales to buy CeCe her summer clothes for next year and stocked up on her wardrobe for fall and winter.  I can't believe our little peanut is nearly in 12 month clothes.  We're left wondering what happened to the time!  She'll be 10 months on Sunday.

I'm sure I'm missing a lot of developments but wanted to get something up quickly so I could dismiss the "blog guilt" I've been carrying around.  Matt had his guest post, oh, eight months ago.  I need to remind him it's time he start sharing his daddy observations with all of you.

I don't have all our photos on this computer and will therefore need to make another post to fill in July and August happenings.  But for the time being, here's a bit of September to hold you over.

Thanks, as always, for reading!

What? Doesn't every baby eat their pack-and-play?

Cecelia recently went to her first wedding shower.  Here is Aunt Emily posing in the toilet paper wedding gown we made her at Sarah's shower (Matt's brother's fiancee).  It was a fun time for all us Stark girls.

She likes these best because she can splash water everywhere while pounding on the counter.

A New "Little Starky" is Born!!!

Today at 5:55 a.m., CeCe's new cousin was born. Lillyan ("Lilly") Mira James weighed (hope I recall this properly) 7 lb. 2 oz. and measured 20 inches. She's such a cute little peanut. Lilly James . . . doesn't she sound like a poet?

We were there for just a few minutes early this morning. Here's the only two photos that didn't turn out blurry:

CeCe meets Lilly.

She was so tired so we didn't get to see her eyes. It's hard to remember CeCe ever being so little!

Congratulations Brian and Lisa!!

CeCe In the City

Greetings Friends and Family! The past month has been jam-packed with fun events for the Stark family. We returned yesterday from a week in Washington D.C. and New York City where we discovered that Cecelia LOVES traveling. What a relief for these nervous parents. We had bad visions of CeCe having a breakdown on the plane but, alas, she was an absolute sweetheart everywhere we went, giving BIG smiles to everyone we encountered. Nothing like a baby to start conversation.

Photos from each day:

July 2 - arrived in Washington D.C. where we visited and stayed with mommy's cousins Nick and Laura.

"Trooper Pooper!" Laura discovers a phrase that puts Celia into stitches.

July 3 - Mommy, daddy and Cecelia spend the day at the Holocaust Museum and walking the National Mall.

Cecelia all ready for her big day. The backpack became her ride for most of the day. It gave daddy a sore back!

In front of the Washington monument. Gotta love that goofy daddy.

Big eyes!

Cecelia learned a new trick while on the trip. Check it out!

July 4 - Independence Day in D.C.! We all got dressed in our red, white and blue (note Matt's "Virginia is for Lovers" shirt which he borrowed from Nick) and headed to the National Mall. We were there for a reading of the Declaration of Independence on the steps of the National Archives, followed by a parade. Given that the festivities started at 10 a.m. and the fireworks began at 9 p.m., we decided to skip the fireworks for Celia's sake. It was quite the exciting day nonetheless.

After all that excitement, CeCe was sleepy! Here she is on daddy's shoulder riding the subway home.

July 5 - After a four hour bus ride, we made it to NYC. Cecelia was so good on the bus. (Thank goodness!) We settled into our hotel, grabbed lunch and headed up to Yankees Stadium for a Red Sox/Yankees game.

CeCe was still tuckered out from all the July 4th fun. She fell back to sleep for quite awhile after initially waking up.

On the subway on the way back to Midtown, CeCe got a seat all to herself (still in backpack). She was quite the hit with the other passengers.

July 7 - We spent the morning in Central Park. Celia went on her first carousel ride ever.

In other news . . .

  • On June 5, Cecelia FINALLY slept through the night. WHOO-HOO! Can't say that she's had a perfect record, but she's certainly on the right track.
  • On June 7, we went to Nick and Laura's wedding. Celia was only there for the ceremony, but it stands as her first wedding, nonetheless.

Sleeping on Oma, as usual.

Grey just loves his Super Man pajamas. So cute . . .

  • The torrential downpours and flooding continued the next day. CeCe sat on daddy's lap to watch the rain come down. She jumped a few times at the thunder and lightning.

Root beer. Yum!

  • On June 13, CeCe went to another Brewers game.
With "Uncle" Mark and Bill Porter.

She was out before we hit the parking lot.

  • On June 14, we went to Appleton to visit Jake and Shelly to celebrate Father's Day with the Weiss clan.
Grey and Cece BOTH love Elmo. Really. Love. Elmo.

  • On June 27, our friends Ody and Suzanne came over for dinner with their kids, Zachary and Elena. Celia just LOVED playing with them.

Zachary gives a big smile!

Elena was helping CeCe out by bouncing her. Can you tell it was fun?

  • On the 28th we went to Grandma and Grandpa Stark's house for Grandpa's birthday and Aunt Lisa's baby shower. As usual, CeCe got lots of attention. Aunt Sandy was home for the weekend so CeCe got to play with ALL of her Stark aunties!
